Update on USQ, and “Mathematics in Australia”. May 15, 2008

As before, presumably all of our readers have presumably already seen this over at Terry Tao’s blog. He’s keeping busy as usual, and has just started a second blog, this time with some (as-yet-invisible) co-bloggers, on “Mathematics in Australia”. It includes an update on the situation at the University of Southern Queensland, where the mathematics department is likely about to be eviscerated. Hopefully our Australian readers, about-to-be-Australian readers (hi emily!) and others, will follow along, and perhaps contribute to Terry’s growing collection of “maths in the media” and “maths policy” links.
