During the first 3 talks of yesterday (given by Edward Witten, Sergei Gukov, and Edward Frenkel), the speakers were continually referring to a previous conference where similar topics had been discussed.

After hearing some variation of “Of course, I covered this in more detail at the last conference” for the fifth or sixth time, Pierre Deligne piped up from the audience and said (I promise that he said this in the most friendly and sweet way possible)  “Did it make more sense at the last conference?”

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen an audience crack up quite like that during a math talk. Remind me to be very careful when giving any talks with him in the front row.
