I just deleted more than 1000 spam messages from our filter, at last half of them on Noah’s recent post about bad editing. My apologies if any real comments got caught in the mix.

The journals post seems to have attracted a serious spam attack that’s still ongoing (there are over 300 new spam trackbacks and comments since David cleared them out all on that one post). I’m not sure why, hopefully it’ll pass soon. In the meantime, our apologies for any spam that does manage to sneak through into your RSS feed.
850 more spams deleted. It really is that one post; do you think it is the phrase “value added” which draws them?
My guess: a malicious attack by desperate publishers who know that their days are numbered.
If only they were attacking my Brauer groupoid post, then it would have comments!
I avoid having real comments get trapped, by always including an imaginary component.
Not to be prejudiced against Quaternionic comments, or Octnionic Opinions…
The spam flow has stopped. My changing the title of Noah’s post might have been the cause, or it might be a coincidence.
